These re-unification drives have been part of a warming of relations between the U.A.E. and Israel who see stronger Muslim and Jewish relations as a means of building stronger communities.

The U.A.E. also facilitated the travel of family relatives from Yemen and London to Abu Dhabi. One of the individuals who travelled from London to meet long lost relatives, Yitzhak Fayez, went onto meet his grandparents and an uncle who were living in Yemen. He is reported to have said, (on his grandparents meeting with his children), “They are today meeting their great grandchildren for the first time. Today, the U.A.E. made my family’s dream come true after we had lost hope on getting reunited, after 21 years of separation”.

He went onto say, “the saying goes; those that give water to the thirsty, will live in prosperity for the rest of their lives. This is what the U.A.E. has done for us”.

The U.A.E was the first country to sign the Abrahamic Accords which were facilitated by the Trump administration.

We believe that the mixing and engagement of communities is the only way to create stronger and more resilient cultural, research and economic links. This leads to less conflict in the future and there is much more that unites Muslims and Jews, than that which divides them.

We believe that greater co-operation between Muslims and Jews in the region is the only way to unlock the potential of the region and to ensure that people grow up in environments where they value difference, instead of developing barriers to it.

Which is why we hope that more countries will see dialogue as the way ahead, when conflict has brought nothing but pain to the lives of many.

One of the most divisive elements between both faith communities has been the issue of Israel and Palestine. As more Muslim majority countries find common ground with Israel, the positive repercussions reverberate into diaspora communities; this positive change coming on the back of some of the more difficult and darker periods of community relations between the two faiths, because of conflict in Gaza, the West Bank and Israel. For two decades, these dark periods of conflict led to global spikes in antisemitism and anti-Muslim hatred.

We in Muslims Against Antisemitism welcome these progressive developments which reduce conflict and enhance peace and mutual understanding between Muslims and Jews.  This is the only way, if we are to work together on issues of hatred, prejudice and intolerance.

We are only stronger together and with the protection of each other serving as the vanguard armour that we should wear in this increasingly complex world.
